The Story of Sami & Rose

For years I’ve wanted to integrate appealing character illustration with projects that can help a less-reached audience with a deep need. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to illustrate this story which will be included within a trauma healing program for kids internationally.
The storybook follows a young brother and sister who are separated during a crisis, through their painful journeys and initial steps toward healing, reunion, and restoration.

Healing Hearts Club is part of an international program created by the Trauma Healing Institute, a restoration ministry from American Bible Society. Caregivers help traumatized children ages 9 to 13 express their pain through stories, games, drawings, crafts, writing laments, songs, and other activities. The story of Sami & Rose is central to the children’s story & activity book and supports the principles covered in the curriculum.

There’s only so much I can do as an illustrator but I am thankful to be able to team up with an established organization who can incorporate artwork into a broader program to reach hurting people around the world. Very thankful to be a part of it!
