I was invited to speak with some high schoolers about freelancing in the arts at Career Day for Woodcrest Christian High School in Riverside, CA. My presentation included an info sheet with quick tips about growing as an artist and what it takes to be a freelancer. Topics include developing your talent as a visual artist, soft skills required for effective freelancing, and character traits to build for long term success.

The animals in this illustration are inspired by the final four teams in the 2014 World Cup™:
The golden eagle is the national animal for Germany.
Argentina is represented by a jaguar.
Brazil is clawing for the football as a macaw.
And the Netherlands is sporting wild hair as a lion.
Costa Rica put up a good fight, the lion was almost a sloth until way into overtime! :)

It was fun doing my own take on the famous Bible scene with Mary & Joseph by the manger, and a whimsical interpretation of the donkey, sheep and cow characters welcoming Jesus in the stable on the night of his birth.
