I'm featured in this month's The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles podcast with SILA President Santosh Oommen. You can hear about my journey to becoming a freelance illustrator, and some key perspectives for artistic & personal growth that made a difference along the way.
I was invited to speak with some high schoolers about freelancing in the arts at Career Day for Woodcrest Christian High School in Riverside, CA. My presentation included an info sheet with quick tips about growing as an artist and what it takes to be a freelancer. Topics include developing your talent as a visual artist, soft skills required for effective freelancing, and character traits to build for long term success.
If you know any young aspiring artists feel free to pass it along!
If you're looking for fun holiday activities for your kids or students to enjoy, please feel free to download copies of this printable coloring book page. I drew this Christmas nativity scene coloring sheet for my church and it's now available for free download and noncommercial use. It was fun doing my own take on the famous Bible scene with Mary & Joseph by the manger, and a whimsical interpretation of the donkey, sheep and cow characters welcoming Jesus in the stable on the night of his birth.
I hope you enjoy it... Merry Christmas!
